We all yearn for change but many believe this change is impossible. Many believe their lives are forever going to be scarred by the memories of their past mistakes. Many don’t consider themselves worthy of love, respect or kindness because of their past flaws. But my message today, using the symbol of upcycling is that; if common items can be transformed and given new life, purpose and beauty by man, how much more can God transform us, if we feel or silently compare ourselves to debris or objects of low worth?
Many have heard this verse over and over again: John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
I guess this verse comes to life, whenever we experience His transforming power. And sometimes it’s not even about being transformed from whatever you consider a mighty sinner to a saint. Sometimes it’s just about experiencing His peace within to fill the void and emptiness.
Some people think being born again always means you did extremely dark stuff in the past. No! Sometimes it’s your inner parts, your soul, that feels, or is dark and empty. And it’s because we are empty without God. We are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64.6) without His forgiveness and Grace. And as filthy rags we need to be upcycled and given the new life and purpose that only God can give.
